I received an apple pie yesterday from one of the residents here at Aquattro as a thank you for helping her get acquainted with her new home and the neighbourhood. She had baked it from the apples she picked in the Aquattro orchard. Let me tell you, the pie smelled and looked amazing! Rather than digging in and eating the entire pie ourselves (trust me, we wanted to!) my daughter Tashi and I went upstairs to visit another resident in our building and brought it as a treat.
We managed to save a couple pieces for Donna and Jeff at the presentation centre to try – I wanted them to taste how delicious the apples are that grow here at Aquattro. We have 81 fruit trees in the 100 year old orchard. The pie was fabulous. Now I have to go pick some apples myself to bake a pie or two.

Residents of the Adriatic building now have neighbours. The Baltic II and the townhouses are now complete and everyone has moved in. Our new residents have been taking advantage of the fantastic weather by going on walks down to Fisgard Beach and hiking though the 650 acre campus of Royal Roads.

Baltic II - all finished!

Construction of the first phase of Aquattro is coming along well. The Baltic I will be finished in a matter of weeks with final touches being made to the interiors and the landscaping around the building.

Work is underway to move the display suite from the sales centre from it’s current location up to the middle of the property where it will become the Clubhouse for everyone at Aquattro. We are already planning some great Olympic-Viewing parties on the big flat screen for February!

Just came back from a wicked jog along the ocean – gorgeous day, had a real sweat-burner of a run.
Something I’ve never seen on Fisgard Beach before – two horses (of course with riders) – two beautiful horses; very well groomed. They totally looked like they were in their element. The riders were just talking and walking along. The large ships were off in the distance, it was a photo-op to die for, but alas, I didn’t have my camera! From now on I am hauling my camera with me wherever I go, I never want to miss another moment like that one!
I’m going back out running tomorrow (camera in hand), so dear horses, if you happen to read this – I’ll see you on the beach at 10:30am tomorrow.

The orchard is flourishing and is full of apples. Residents, neighbours and visitors have all started picking them to have at home to enjoy. We had a tree expert tell us that these may be “Baldwin” apples. Learn more about this variety here.

We just moved our model home from our presentation centre into a real suite in the Baltic II building. So if you’re coming now to visit Aquattro we’ll be able to show you a fully decorated home in a finished building…and if you really like it…we’ll sell you the suite fully furnished! It was all done in one day by local moving company,
Foster’s Moving and Storage, with no injuries and no damage – unbelievable but true. Thanks guys.

See you soon,

We’ve talked about Selleck Creek previously on our website shortly after the Aquattro developer started their enhancements. But look at it now. The waterway has been carefully shaped following the Department of Fishery and Ocean guidelines with pools, weirs, spawning beds, fish ladders, boulders, root balls, local trees and plants (From a neighboring greenhouse) to provide natural cover for the cutthroat trout.

Every day we see at least some of the deer that live on the Aquattro lands and in the nearby forests. They seem to love the long grass near the presentation centre and we often see them lying down in it, or looking for apples in the orchard. During the summer they cool themselves under the deck leading to the show suite…when we would bring folks on a tour…they would bolt out and provide a nice surprise to our visitors…almost like it was staged!

The front of the property at Aquattro is a dedicated thirteen acre park which has nice walking trails that lead to the beach…you are welcome to come out for a stroll to find out why they call it “Little Disneyland” here!

I was the first resident in the Adriatic and I absolutely love my new home! One of the biggest changes I have found since moving here…is I sleep straight though the night. I don’t know if it’s because it is so quiet here or that I am hearing the lull of the ocean waves while I’m sleeping.
During the first month, my daughter Tashi and I got to watch a baby fawn being born. While the deer can be irritating (they nibble on my tomato plants) it is really something to see. You can now start to see why the residents call Aquattro “Little Disneyland”.
Adriatic l, Baltic II and our town homes have filled up with new residents and the Baltic I will be finished shortly. There is a community building at Aquattro. People are having neighbours over for dinner or drinks and there is a friendly recognition when you see one of your neigbours in the elevator or on the beach. I particularly love the fact that one of our residents wheels his canoe down to the ocean quite often to go crabbing. He generally catches some large dungeness and best of all when he shares his catch of the day it is cooked, cleaned and ready to eat…mmm pass the butter.

Catch of the day - yum!

Fisgard Beach, is surrounded by a variety of unexpected local features that make walking the beach a really interesting experience. Just off the beach is Fisgard lighthouse, the first lighthouse on the West coast of Canada. The lighthouse is in the Fort Rodd Hill national park which is a coast artillery base built in 1890 to protect Victoria and the Esquimalt Naval Base. Both the lighthouse and the fort are National Historic Sites of Canada…what a great amenity in the Aquattro neighborhood!

One of the many things I love about living at Aquattro is the quick access down to the beach and walking across Ocean Boulevard and looking across the Esquimalt Lagoon to Hatley Castle and to look out onto the pacific ocean with the Olympic mountain range in the distance. I cherish the early morning runs that start my day and until recently I was only saying “Good Morning” to the locals I have seen on their regular walks – of course, the birds, rabbits and deer are out with me every morning too. Today, things have changed. I notice now that the people I am saying good morning to are residents of Aquattro. Some are walking, some are jogging and some are sitting on the logs sipping their coffee. Just sitting and looking out over the ocean is so therapeutic…not a bad way to start your day.
